Merry SITSmas!

This is my very first SITsmas post (so be gentle…)

Hi! I’m Natalie, and I’m 25. This blog is my baby blog, but it wasn’t always so! In December of ’07, my husband and I lost our first child to miscarriage three days before Christmas. My blog was born from my loss; a place for me to grieve and vent in a semi-private setting that no one knew about. I eventually told a few folks about my blog, and in June of ’08 it became our trying to conceive (TTC) blog. After almost an entire year, and 9 failed cycles of TTC later we still weren’t pregnant. In April of ’09 we decided to give up the “trying”, and just let it happen. What a novel idea, right?
Well, on May 9th ’09 – one day before Mother’s Day – I found myself staring in disbelief at the word I’d been waiting on for so long: PREGNANT!
I am currently 34 weeks (and some change) pregnant with our baby girl, Nellie Rose. She’s expected January 17th, 2010! Our belated little Christmas gift. We can’t wait to meet her.
Thanks for stopping by, and MERRY SITSmas!!!

34 Weeks – Baby Cantaloupe (Now Combined with Belly Pics + Survey!)

Your baby has bulked up like the average cantaloupe — to about 4 3/4 pounds. (Length: almost 18 inches, head to heel.)

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she’s born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous
system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
