Snowflakes

I think that, perhaps, my festive holiday tablecloth is a bit too large for my table. What say you, readers?

I normally don’t even dream of putting up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. However, we went to Wal-Mart tonight and picked up a few. My husband ripped into the tablecloth, and I gasped at him.
“It’s not Thanksgiving yet!”
He just looked at me. I looked at him. We were both thinking the same thing.
Do we dare put up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving?

Clearly, we dared. I now have a few Christmas knickknacks merrily on display and there will be more to come. I am ridiculously excited for the coming holiday season and have been insanely eager to decorate.. Something I’m not usually overly zealous about.

What about you? Do you decorate before Thanksgiving? Are your lights and tree already up?

  1. We usually wait until December to put them up. My boys would love a tablecloth that long- they would seet that as a great tent to play in.

  2. I definitely like to wait…I'm feeling a bit bah humbug with the emergence of Christmas decorations on November 1st in all the stores. Bleh.

I may also be having a hard time decking the halls given that it's in the high 70's here…

  3. That is one of my pet peeves. I don't pull out the decorations until the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm a bit crazy like that. I think Gadget Guy gets sick of me complaining about Christmas stuff so early!

  4. I am so ready!!! I've just been a bit overwhelmed with a "book" I've been writing that my professor simply calls a paper. :) But yes, I will be dragging out the tree or possibly picking up a live one in a couple of days, Wednesday to be exact!

Oh, and the table cloth, I think, fits perfectly, just be sure little Nellie doesnt try to pull up on it and pull anything onto herself.

  5. You can still respect the turkey while embracing the Christmas spirit! We put our tree up this past weekend, but we still have our fall decorations out too! We spend our Christmas in TN so we try to put all our decorations out early so we can enjoy them as long as possible! Also my daughter absolutely LOVES decorating the tree, and if we waited until after Thanksgiving we would never have time to do it!

    • I live in Tennessee, so I hear ya. It's hard to get into the holiday spirit when it's in the 70s. I come from Chicago, so I'm used to it being cold and even snowing sometimes at this time of year!!

      • I would L.O.V.E. for it to be snowing at this time of year! I live in SC and it's supposed to be around 80* on Thanksgiving and it seriously pisses me off. It makes me want to cry.

  6. I sooo want to decorate, but with all the moving we've done in the past year, I don't even know where all our Christmas decorations are :( And my wonderful DH left our tree at the storage unit of our last apartment so we need to get a new one–hopefully on Black Friday!! I haven't been into decorating this place bc I know it's not ours, we'll be moving whenever we find a house to buy, but… I MUST decorate for Christmas!! Love your tablecloth!

  7. We normally wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to put everything up but not this year! The lights were all put up yesterday. We will still wait until next weekend for the tree because we get a real one. I love to have all the Christmas stuff up! I think if it makes you happy, then do it!
