Ramblings of a Pregnant Brain

Well, this weekend is the big move. We were originally going to sign our lease and pick up our keys tomorrow but upon hearing the prorated amount we’d have to pay for moving in so early we decided to postpone that until Saturday. Yeah.

I am off for SIX DAYS STRAIGHT starting TOMORROW. Today is my last day at work for nearly a week. GLORIOUS. And of course, Thursday is Thanksgiving… AKA Pregnant Lady stuffs herself so she’s even fatter with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and pie. AKA, The Happiest Day of the Year. I’m pretty psyched for my mother-in-law’s Turkey Day food. The woman is a warlock of food, and I’m not even kidding.

Thursday and Friday should be interesting. I scheduled the electricity to be cut off Thursday at our current apartment, and turned on Friday at our new place…. Because originally we were making Friday Moving Day. But now Saturday is Moving Day and we will now be without power for two days. It’s not a big deal; we’ll just…. Live like cavepeople for two days. No TV, no Gears of War 2…. Just me and the hubby, spending time with one another!

I don’t think I’ve mentioned Nellie’s reactions to video games here yet. We don’t play a whole lot. We have an XBox 360 that we received as a Christmas gift from my dad last year. I like video games and enjoy playing, but I always have a hard time justifying spending $200-$400 on a gaming console. Up until last Christmas, all we had was an old PS2 and a Nintendo GameCube. That’s probably all we would have had for a very long time, too. Luckily, however, my dad bought us an XBox as a gift. My favorite game of all time is Guitar Hero and I could probably kick your ass at it, thank you very much. I’m a rock star. It’s true, and it’s OK to be jealous. I’m also in love with LEGO Indiana Jones and Batman.

Joshua enjoys a wider range of games; his favorites being God of War, Assassin’s Creed and the Gears of War games. He has played Gears of War for a long time and I’ve watched/halfheartedly observed up until recently. He and I have gotten into playing together on Horde mode; which is basically where you have to kill bad guys in waves, each wave getting harder and stronger than the last. I now enjoy playing it with him….. And Nellie likes it when we play, too. EVERY SINGLE TIME we have played Gears of War 2, she has begun kicking almost immediately. She either really likes it, or really hates it!

OK, sorry, Pregnant Brain detour. Back to our busy month. We have got 2 baby showers scheduled for December. I have 2 performances with my quartet, and several with my chorus. Obviously, Christmas is in December. I have doctor’s appointments, not to mention the little fact that on December 27th, 2009 I will be considered full-term pregnant. MY CHILD COULD BE HERE BEFORE 2009 IS OVER. THIS IS CRAZY TO ME. Speaking of Pregnant Brain, mine is like a seive and I literally forget things ALL THE FREAKING TIME. I forget where I put my keys two minutes after I set them down.. I forget what I did with my cell phone, I forget that I HAVE a cell phone, I forget to make phone calls, write e-mails, and I drop things more than a clumsy person covered in baby oil.

……That last statement was really strange. Hmm. I am not real sure where it came from.

So, to sum up… The next month is crazy busy. I am a barbershop rock star along with my ladies and we are in high demand to perform all around the Scenic City (wait, was that the sound of me tooting my own horn?). My baby loves it when her mommy and daddy kick virtual subterrenean bad-guy butt. If my head were not attached to my shoulders, I’d lose it on a daily basis. I will be living in the dark for two days this week.

I am going to try and make my Wordless Wednesday post, but more than likely I will miss Thankful Thursday. So next week I’ll have to play catch-up! If I don’t post before, I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving!

And following their instructions. I have some pretty stiff competition. It only takes a few minutes, and you could help an up and coming mommy blogger take off and get some recognition. Thank you!

If That’s Movin’ Up, Then I’m Movin’ Out!

I got a great phone call yesterday.

WE GOT APPROVED FOR THE APARTMENT!

We will be moving November 27th into a 2 bedroom apartment. I am so psyched! It’s a nice place and not far from where we live right now. I’m just so happy that Nellie is going to have her own nursery; her own little space. DH is already talking excitedly about custom decorative things he wants to make for her, it’s so adorable. The new place is larger than the 1 BR unit we are living in now, has 2 FULL BATHS, ample closet space and best of all, that 2nd bedroom. And we are only paying $10 more a month for it than we are for our current 1 BR place. Crazy! As much as I love our current apartment (we’ve been there for almost 4 1/2 years), we just can’t afford a 2 BR in that complex so we had to move on. I am just so excited. I need to get to packing!

Last night after chorus, the girls I’m starting a quartet with and I stood outside and sang a few songs together. I always get so giddy when I get to sing with my quartet. Singing with a chorus is great, but singing in a quartet is so much more exciting. After we sang “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, Nellie started kicking like crazy. I don’t know if she was approving, or dancing or what but it was really awesome. It made us all laugh. I love that she’s already with me when I do something that I enjoy so much; my excitement and enjoyment has got to filter down to her.
Halfway through the week! Just a little bit closer to that 3rd trimester. WOO HOO!!!!!! Here’s a belly pic I took last night. I feel huge already, though I know that I haven’t seen ANYTHING yet.

Have a happy Wednesday!

Sneezy Pants, Movie Nights, and Potential New Digs

Oh, it’s Monday again. And it’s rainy! Boo for both. I appear to be in the throes of an allergy attack, which is a bummer. It started yesterday and hasn’t let up. I’m sneezing every few minutes which means my poor little nose will probably be raw by the end of the day. I feel fine, just sneezy. I popped a Claritin not too long ago so hopefully it’ll help kill the sneezes in a few hours.

We had a good weekend. We went and looked at a new apartment on Saturday. We had pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that we were going to be stuck in our 1 BR for another 6 months, as every place we had looked at had security deposits. Due to DH’s work being painfully dry lately, we haven’t had the ability to save up enough for a deposit so we were searching for a place with a “no security deposit” special. Luckily, we found one not far away from where we already live. A 2 BR place for $10 more than what we are paying for our 1 BR place currently. We went and checked it out, and liked what we saw. It has 2 full bathrooms, plenty of closet space (which is something our current apartment lacks), a patio and a storage closet out on the patio. The appliances are a bit older than I’d like, but they are in fine working order which is what’s important. It has a separate washer/dryer area which is great, and water plus basic cable are included. Score!
We had to put $145 down ($100 to reserve the apartment, and $45 as an app. fee) but the $100 is going to come off our first month’s rent. I’m feeling optimistic; the only roadblock we may run into is needing a cosignor since DH doesn’t get paystubs from his job and providing proof of income is difficult for him. Not a big deal; I’m sure we can find someone to cosign for us if need be. I am hoping that my pay stubs, and our 4 years of good rental history from our current complex will be sufficient.

Yesterday afternoon we went down to the Market, got some kettle corn and looked around and headed to my brother in law’s house. We cooked burgers and watched the Lost Boys.
Last night we went to our friend’s apartment and hung out and watched Halloween-themed movies. We watched Trick r’ Treat first, which was great.. I’ve been wanting to see that movie for about 2 years now. For some reason there was some weird delay on its’ DVD release. I first saw a preview for it about 2 years ago and it was just recently put out on DVD. I enjoyed it very much. We ate popcorn and cookies, and watched A Nightmare on Elm Street which was full of many laughs. I hadn’t ever seen the original Nightmare, so that was fun.

I’ve been getting used to life without Ada. I still get a little sad when I look out into the screened in porch and she’s not there, but I do have to admit my stress levels have gone down quite a bit. I don’t have to worry about where she’s peed, if she’s peed or think about cleaning it up. I hope she’s adjusting to her new home well. I do think about her a lot and hope she’s OK, but I do have to say I am a little relieved and things have been easier.

Okay.. I’m going to work on my weekly update. 26 weeks pregnant. One week away from the THIRD TRIMESTER!!!!
